The Cabaceiras communities

Coral Lodge 15.41 are Cabaceira Grande and Cabaceira Pequena. Because of their remote location the inhabitants of these two villages lived in isolation for many centuries. This isolation has sheltered the Macua people from civil war and HIV/Aids on the one hand, but it deprived them of development, schooling and medical services on the other hand

In order to give the people of Cabaceira a chance to develop and prosper, Lisa St. Aubin de Terán, a famous English travel writer, started the College for Tourism and Agriculture in 2003. Since then, many villagers have been trained at the college, which is funded by the Terán foundation. You’ll be pleased to know that some of our staff members are graduates from the college.

During your stay it will be possible to visit these communities and learn more about the Macua people and their traditions.

To find out more about the Cabaceiras communities we recommend you read the book ‘Mozambique Mysteries’ by Lisa St. Aubin de Terán.
